Mclaren F1

The infamous Mclaren F1 designed by Gordon Murray. The fastest, and most technologically advanced car in the world when it was first introduced in 1992. While nowadays the Bugatti Veyron SS, Koenigsegg CCX, and SSC Ultimate Aero all are faster, they use turbos to achieve their blistering speeds. In fact, to this day the fastest naturally aspirated production car ever made is still the Mclaren F1. Not only is it fast, but it's beautiful as well...

I mean just look at it. You would have to be mentally insane to not want one of these in your dream garage. Unfortunately they are quite expensive, and quite rare. Only 64 street versions were ever made, along with 5 LM (Le Mans) versions. If you see one, take a moment to bask in it's glory, you might not get another chance ;). The Mclaren F1 was also the first car ever made with a carbon-fiber monocoque. It's also center drive, which means the steering wheel is in the middle. Pretty neat huh?

Yes, that is real gold.
Now, I wont go into too much detail here because I want to grab the interest of people that may not be very knowledgeable when it comes to specifications (which this car has a ton of interesting specs). Instead I'm gonna toss a couple easy to understand numbers out there.

Engine: 6.1L BMW V12
Top Speed: 243 mph (391 km/h)
0-60 mph (97 km/h): 3.2 seconds
Curb Weight: 2,513 lb (1,140 kg)
Drivetrain: RWD

Here's a cool clip from Top Gear featuring the Mclaren and a Veyron:

  1. Indeed it is a cool car. Unfortunately, even seeing one may prove to be quite the feat.
